Interns

After submitting your application, you will be reached out to via email to either invite you for a Lifestory or let you know that we are moving forwards with other applicants for this term.

The next step in the process is a Lifestory chat with one of the Intern Program recruiters. Typically our Lifestories are run in batches, so you can expect to hear back about next steps once our team has met with all potential candidates.

The next step is a skills based meeting with one or two people from teams in your discipline. For example, if you are applying to a developer intern role, you’ll have a chance to meet with two developers from different teams. f you are applying for a design role, you will meet with two designers, etc.

This step usually take about an hour and consists of two separate parts; an opportunity to bring in something to show off your skills, i.e a side project, a portfolio or project from a previous internship, followed by a more focused problem solving challenge to get you using your experience in the way you would day to day here at Shopify.

Following this, your recruiter will be back in touch with a decision for you based on the timeline stated on the job posting.

Support

Guru, Business Operations & Technical

Following the application, selected applicants will be contacted to do a Lifestory interview. Your Recruiter will then be in touch regarding next steps.

You would then complete what we call ‘The Gauntlet’, a 3-hour online roleplay with a Support Squad Lead. The Gauntlet is meant to mimic the work a Guru does during a typical work day - it is used to evaluate technical skills and measure resourcefulness. Following the completion of The Gauntlet, you'll also have an interview with one of our Squad Leads where you'll get more information about KPI’s and the relationship between a guru and their lead. This is also the time where you'll have an opportunity to ask questions on the team level. After that chat, your Recruiter will be in touch with a decision for you.
